Sheri Sanders is an esteemed instructor at The New York Performing Arts Academy. Sheri is a multifaceted artist, singer, and the visionary founder of Rock the Audition. Her journey in reshaping the landscape of musical theatre began in 2004 when she recognized the transformative influence of rock music on the genre. Sensing the evolving climate, Sheri pioneered a masterclass dedicated to auditioning for rock musicals, which quickly became a sensation in New York City.

As the world's foremost popular music repertoire coach, Sheri's groundbreaking insights led to the publication of her acclaimed book, "Rock the Audition," in 2011. This seminal work marked the beginning of a new era, providing students, teachers, and coaches with the essential skills to navigate and excel in auditions across all styles of popular music prevalent on Broadway.

Building upon the success of her book, Sheri embarked on a mission to democratize access to her invaluable teachings. In 2017, she transformed "Rock the Audition" into an interactive online rock musical theatre training program, breaking down geographical barriers and empowering aspiring performers from every corner of the globe to study directly with her.

Sheri's dedication and expertise have propelled her students to the forefront of the industry, with numerous successes on Broadway, touring productions, and regional stages. From acclaimed productions such as "Mean Girls," "Hamilton," "Jagged Little Pill," to iconic shows like "Rent" and "Wicked," her students have left an indelible mark on the world of musical theatre.

Beyond the stage, Sheri is deeply committed to advocacy and inclusivity within the industry. She champions initiatives such as CARE (Creatives for Artistic and Realistic Equity), aimed at fostering diversity and representation in musical theatre programs nationwide.

In addition to her role as an educator and mentor, Sheri is also an accomplished arranger, professionally arranging audition cuts on Musicnotes. Her commitment to excellence and passion for nurturing the next generation of musical theatre talent make her an invaluable asset to The New York Performing Arts Academy.
