Come join us for this hands-on boatbuilding course, offered to youth girls age 11 and up, in celebration of Women's History Month. Students will work as a team building the Kingston Pram rowboat from start to finish. This is a unique opportunity to work with a master woodworker and shipwright, Wayne Ford, whose experience includes participating in the restoration of the sloop Woody Guthrie and the sloop Clearwater. Wayne will lead this course over the week of spring break, teaching the team how to work together to successfully construct a small boat. Students have the option of taking as many days of the class as they want, from one day to all five days.
The boat you will build is a Kingston Pram and it has an ideal structure for the beginning boatbuilder. It's a compact rowboat that is compact enough to be carried on the top of a car. Length: 8'1" / Beam (width at widest point): 3'11" / Height: 1'2" / Draft (depth below the water): 4".
